Forensic Accounting Minor Program

Learn how to investigate fraud, financial, and white collar crime and develop analytical skills with a minor in forensic accounting at Franciscan University.

Financial accounting is a field of investigation used to prevent and detect fraud through analysis and identification of financial records of individuals, businesses, or other agencies. Fraudulent schemes encountered in the criminal justice system include embezzlement, fraudulent financial reporting, and misappropriation of funds.

Students who pursue a forensic accounting minor often pursue careers investigating and providing litigation support to police departments, accounting firms, banks, and government agencies. With a minor in forensic accounting, a student will be equipped to acquire and preserve evidence, sharpen accounting skills, and develop the investigative skills necessary to pursue a future career in accounting or criminal justice.
