Emmanuel Gonzalez ’22
“Upon graduating from the Social Work program at Franciscan University in spring ’22, I was humbled to have been offered a position by Franciscan University to pursue graduate studies while working on-campus as a campus minister. Since then, I’ve been working as a Graduate Assistant under the campus’ Office for Evangelization, all while studying to obtain my master’s degree from Franciscan University in Catechetics and Evangelization (est. to graduate by spring ’25). Alongside working for Franciscan University and pursuing my graduate studies, I’m also blessed to serve as a Catholic evangelist/speaker, publicly sharing about the Catholic Church’s teaching regarding human sexuality on numerous platforms and with various audiences both nationally and internationally.”
“Though currently working in the catechetical sphere as opposed to the social work force, my undergraduate background in social work nonetheless has an undeniable influence on how I approach those I work alongside and those I work for. After all, so much of my ministry work involves holistically encountering each human person wherever they might be, no matter how potentially “ugly” or “messy” it looks at first glance. So much of the formation I received in the social work program at Franciscan University equipped me for just that; to wholeheartedly approach every individual actively looking for God in them, all while keeping in mind the greatness and completion in Him they are made for.”
“The social work program at Franciscan University benefitted me both academically and spiritually, challenging my personal knowledge and ability to love as both a professional in the modern world and a contemporary disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
“To Franciscan University’s social work program, I am forever grateful. All glory be the Lord’s, now and forever!”
