Middle Childhood Education (Language Arts & Social Studies)

“Hello! I am currently a middle school teacher in the Steubenville area, where I teach 7th and 8th grade social studies. As a social studies teacher, my goal is for my students to grow as historical thinkers. I incorporate simulations, group work, and primary source analysis in the classroom as strategies to engage my students and make history come to life.”

“My time at Franciscan was instrumental in forming me as an educator. One lesson I learned in my classes was the value of collaboration. I am grateful for the many group projects that my teachers assigned. During those projects, my peers introduced me to new ideas about curriculum, resources, and classroom management. Now that I am in the classroom, I enjoy learning from the other teachers in my district, and I find value in collaborating with my colleagues on activities and projects.”

“Another way that Franciscan shaped me as an educator was through my professors’ witness to joy. Their passion for education and their love for Christ were evident in every class I attended. I hope to share that same joy with my students today.”
