Dominique Cognetti ’20

“My name is Dominique Cognetti, LMSW. I graduated from Franciscan University with my Bachelor of Science in Social Work in 2020. I continued my education at Fordham University obtaining my MSW in 2021. Currently, I hold the position of medical clinical social worker at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx NY. We serve a medically underserved population that face many challenges and complexities daily, including addiction, homelessness, violence, poverty and more. My role is to secure a safe and appropriate discharge plan for my patients.”

“To know I make a difference in the lives of individuals going through a challenging time is extremely rewarding and provides me with personal satisfaction. Providing empathy, compassion, and bearing witness to patients in their most vulnerable times has allowed me to use my faith to the fullest extent.”

“Faith does not make things easy it makes things possible. My time at Franciscan University Social Work Program provided me with concrete roots, values, and practices that continue to guide me when serving my patients on a daily basis. I must say, the amount of faith people in the Bronx have is a testament to knowing that the Lord is alive and well!”
